Countdown to Sacred Plant Medicine Intensive: 5 Days

sea-lion-301328_640“You were born to be open and honest and brave and playful, to laugh often, to love much, to be loved much in return.  You were born for joy.”  Martha Beck, The Joy Diet

Often during my morning showers, some insight will come through pretty strong.  Similar to Oprah’s “aha’s”, I call mine “shower moments”.  They are not thoughts, though often my mind recognizes already knowing them, but instead are powerful moments when when my heart, soul, mind, and body all experience a truth in synchronicity.

This morning it hit me: maybe we stay stuck in Wounded Child because it’s so much more comfortable than owning Thriving Adult.  When we have spent a lifetime struggling to overcome, achieve, and forget, then owning our whole selves and healing ourselves well is a different animal.  Clearing the rainclouds so we can see the sunshine that has been behind them all along, the beauty that has always existed along the entirety of our life path, is quite surprising and feels completely different…even awkward at first.   Coming into this space of wide-open heart-soul-mind-body harmonious thriving is a lot to take in, and holding onto the stories of the past, while painful and diminishing, is a comfortable (in a familiar sort of way) habit.

mountain-298999_640The minute I begin to own fully my Thriving Woman, I feel expectations (my own stories and tapes) flowing in.  Different images emerge of how Thriving Woman ‘should’ look and act, and I feel overwhelmed.  Ironic considering I’m already Thriving Woman and how I look and feel is much more comfortable than that.  Oh yeah, I’m creating my very own version of Thriving Woman moment by moment. Deep breath.  I’m grateful to be finishing the book I quoted at the beginning of this blog since in it Martha Beck lays out a beautiful footpath for every Thriving Woman to walk in joy while continuing to expand ourselves.  Thinking of this in terms of my entire future feels daunting until I recall that all I have and how all that matters is this moment.  I am Thriving Woman right now and I am grateful.  Moment by moment the journey unfolds.

As for the detox diet, I must admit I fantasized about a medium-rare ribeye steak yesterday evening in mouth-watering detail.  Sinking my teeth into something with resistance and chewing slowly.  Oh. My.  GOODNESS!  The only thought I could conjure up stronger was of me celebrating the beautiful Amazon jungle with all five of my senses while guided by the Mother Plant.  OK, I can do veggies…but when I finally partake in that juicy steak (and I’m not even a frequent meat eater), watch out!

apple-496977_640Today’s Ceremony Detox Menu:  Frozen strawberry/blueberry (forgot the wheatgrass being all caught up in my shower moment self)  smoothie with boiled egg for breakfast.  Herbal teas and water throughout the day.  Steamed fish and rice with broccoli for lunch.  Apple for snack.  Quinoa, cauliflower, and tomatoes with organic mixed greens salad for dinner.

Tonight’s Unplugged Time:  Whatever the moment brings.

Namaste and much love,

Sheryl Sitts, Founder, Journey of Possibilities

Spirit guided me to create this “Countdown to Sacred Plant Medicine Intensive”  blog series to help demystify this sacred healing/awakening path while simplifying the dietary preparations by sharing practical ways I am preparing for the Amazon while working and living in a modern society.   If something I share sparks your curiosity or interest, please COMMENT BELOW and let’s create a conversation here.  I receive no compensation for sharing here but am drawn by my heart to create a safe space and portal of possibility for anyone seeking hope and help to know there are many natural solutions we have not fully explored.  Only by searching within and carefully selecting holistic modalities that resonate for us and practitioners who hold their work and healing space sacred can we truly unlock our own amazing journey of possibilities!  I am here for you if I can help in any way.
