PERU!!! It’s finally sinking in that I will soon awaken in the jungle to the sounds of unfamiliar birds, monkeys, and larger creatures stirring around camouflaged from view. Once again I will be the creature on display for the local residents’ amusement, a fun twist from our visits to the zoo. Far from making me nervous or scared as some suggest they would be, I feel like I’m going home! Living in harmony with nature again is so peaceful and joyous in the Amazon that I struggle to leave once there. I awoke this morning giddy with excitement at the realization of how close I am to departure.
To balance that emotion, I feel the intensity of our upcoming ceremony. The musical healers gathering there welcoming us with their love and sound healing, the plants entering our bodies to remind us of Who we are spiritually, physically, mentally, and even cosmically. The “Mother plant” shows us who and where we have been throughout all of time and space, not just in this lifetime. What a sacred gift to receive her! Sometimes, however, our lessons are not easy to see, and there is a death of ego that takes place at that threshold that takes surrender unlike anything else. I will ask for Divine guidance and strengthening from my fellow soul-travelers present and absent, in and out of skin to help me ALLOW (there’s my 2015 buzz phrase again).
As for my detox diet, I’m doing really well except cheating with 3 small bites of freshly baked bear claw. I simply could not resist, so I chewed each one slowly and moaned shamelessly. That actually satisfied my craving and I don’t regret it one bit! Otherwise I must declare that I have fallen fully in love with organic celery! It’s great to nibble on throughout the day and it’s loaded with flavor, unlike its chemical-laden, mass produced, tasteless counterpart. These crunchy munchies paired with hot tea and cool water really get me through the day. I have incredible energy and recognize now how my energy levels had been fluctuating before between lethargic (after heavy meats or carb overload) and edgy/anxious (after caffeine or sugars). It’s really nice to have more consistent moods and energy.
Today’s Ceremony Detox Menu: Green juice early AM, oatmeal mid-morning, quinoa salad for lunch, apple mid-afternoon snack, aforementioned celery sticks with water and herb teas throughout the day, lentils and rice for dinner, strawberries for dessert..
Tonight’s Unplugged Time: Whatever the moment brings.
Namaste and much love,
Sheryl Sitts, Founder, Journey of Possibilities
Spirit guided me to create this “Countdown to Sacred Plant Medicine Intensive” blog series to help demystify this sacred healing/awakening path while simplifying the dietary preparations by sharing practical ways I am preparing for the Amazon while working and living in a modern society. If something I share sparks your curiosity or interest, please COMMENT BELOW and let’s create a conversation here. I receive no compensation for sharing here but am drawn by my heart to create a safe space and portal of possibility for anyone seeking hope and help to know there are many natural solutions we have not fully explored. Only by searching within and carefully selecting holistic modalities that resonate for us and practitioners who hold their work and healing space sacred can we truly unlock our own amazing journey of possibilities! I am here for you if I can help in any way. Namaste.
