Growing up, I remember breaking the rules several times because the reward was greater than the punishment. So what if I was grounded for a week (of school nights) for staying out too late on a Friday night? I’ll take that! I also took the ‘F’ on that test to go out with the cute guy, and made it up later in the semester. Sometimes it backfired, but all in all I think I did a good job of balancing my good girl / bad girl in my teens, and I had a blast! Surely you’ve done this throughout your life as well?
I have been a part of the business world since joining it through family businesses at the age of 10. I’ve worked hard for a long time, and I had the health to show for it: overweight, inflamed skin (rosacea), high blood pressure (hypertension), bad diet, irregular exercise, seasonal allergies 2-3 times a year, and catching random “bugs” once or twice a year. I had an interesting assortment of left-over antibiotics and pain pills, over-the-counter pain relievers, allergy pills (prescription and OTC), and vitamins and herbs I bought and took on a whim. Compared to many around me in the business world (both for-profit and nonprofit), I was actually pretty healthy!
Two years ago I was laid off, finished my masters degree, and launched Journey of Possibilities. At that time, I also began my own holistic and shamanic deep personal healing. “As within, so without.” Since starting that journey, my skin is well, my blood pressure is back normal and I’ve not had one cold or sinus infection! I am much more in tune with my body, and as I notice a runny nose or an ache, I holistically begin to explore what my body is manifesting that is going on inside me…where my energy is blocked…and treat root cause. Healing, opening, and allowing flow through my chakras, releasing ‘stuck energy’ and living a more empowered life. I adjust my diet and exercise, support restoring wellness with herbs and vitamins, and move through it.
All Americans are now legally required to purchase “health”care plans at ridiculously high “affordable” rates many of us simply cannot pay. Furthermore, these plans in no way cover or support holistic products and practitioners (massage therapy, reiki, acupuncture, hypnotherapy, shamanic plants, gym memberships, costly organic foods and supplements, etc). Instead, they want me to go to ‘conventional’ doctors who give me 5 minutes of their time and a prescription for something that ‘fixes’ one problem while creating 50 others. This is not health care, it is sick care, and I want no part of it.
For now, I choose to pay the penalty and continue doing what, for the first time in my life, truly provides me wellness and vitality. That action is worth the consequence. As this madness and the resulting consequences increase, I pray others will join me in raising an ever-louder voice of opposition against this insanity. Here’s to your health!
