EgyptianMixingThere has been a lot of hype in the media about disease and the many “outbreaks” causing unnecessary fear and panic.  As a mother of three, I am extremely conscious of what medicines my children take.  This season has proved to be a bit of a challenge for our immunity with some intense cold and flu symptoms that would come back with a vengeance. Usually peppermint, an amazing antiviral and decongestant, works as a quick charm when diffused and massaged with a carrier oil on the feet, back, and chest. That was not working well this time at all, any other time the bug would leave quickly. So using three or a trine of powerful antivirals with decongestant and antiseptic helpers would prove a powerful medicine for the flu-ish cold that was trying to keep us all sick. Cinnamon, peppermint, and eucalyptus were the three that came to me…cinnamon being an extremely potent cure all, peppermint an antiviral, decongestant, and expectorant, and eucalyptus being great for respiratory and infected inflamed tissue.

eucalyptus-essential-oil.jpg.cfEucalyptus:  Effective for treating many respiratory problems including cold, cough, runny nose, sore throat, asthma, nasal congestion, bronchitis and sinusitis. It’s antibacterial, antifungal, antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and decongestant in nature, which makes it a good ingredient in many medicines that treat respiratory problems.

Cinnamon-Essential-OilCinnamon: Traditionally used in many cultures for treating a variety of health disorders including diarrhea, arthritis, menstrual cramps, heavy menstruation, yeast infections, colds, flu, and digestive problems. The herb, owing to its vast medicinal uses, has found a prominent position in traditional medicines, especially in Ayurveda, which is the traditional Indian medicinal system.

Historically, the herb has been known for its medicinal uses, and its impressively long history often gives it the prestigious title as the world’s oldest medicine.
