Learning to literally live IN faith is a challenging process that gets messy and takes time…and yes…FAITH! I have dabbled in this practice throughout my life, but have in recent months begun to really work through the process of trusting my destiny to God. What better teacher than Journey of Possibilities?
We are taught to plan and prepare in order to be conscientious, responsible adults. Only a careless fool doesn’t plan ahead, right? All the way back to childhood we’ve heard stories like the squirrel who puts away nuts for the winter and the…what was the other animal..who doesn’t plan ahead and gets hungry when the snow falls? Anyway, it’s a deeply instilled life lesson. Well if it is all about planning, where does faith come in to play?
We ARE to plan…and then we are to be READY and OPEN for the Miracles to arrive while remaining FLEXIBLE to adjust course along the way. When we plan and pray for answers, we don’t always recognize the solutions because we are looking for God to answer in our vision. How silly! God answers in Divine Intelligence and Faith is our guide to remaining open to ALL Possibilities.
As I touched on during a radio interview I was blessed to be invited to give earlier this week (www.blogtalkradio.com/toughtalkradionetwork/2011/10/26/power-talk-linda-ballesteros-sheryl-sitts-suzanne-jarvis), Journey is being revealed one row of bricks at a time on this Path. I had a vision of Journey that was divinely inspired and began to move toward that. However, it changes as I go along. I have come to understand that I only saw a glimpse of one level in the process, with no idea when that actually occurs. At some stages, things move very quickly. At other stages, I am tempted to think God has forgotten about me over here! Then just as suddenly, things pick back up as if they were intended at that very moment, and indeed they were!
Faith is living in Prayer, intending from the realm of all Possibilities, and being open to Divine Guidance at every step of the process. Plan all you wish, but that is merely our own human busy work in an attempt to be ready for the blessings to come. The rest of the story is intending those blessings, and expecting them to appear in any shape possible. What blessings might you be overlooking because they don’t look the way you want or expect, or because you are trying to fit them into your will rather than Thine? Namaste!
How often do you feel like they appreciate you at your neighborhood grocery store, restaurant, dry cleaners, or bank? Do you feel like anyone really acknowledges that the money you spend every week in these places is crucial to their own success? Looking at this another way, how passionate are you about your own work? Do you go out of your way to let others know that you appreciate and are dependent upon them?
Over the years, we seem to have moved away from being a society that exchanges and appreciates one another’s talents. In fact, it feels as though many of us have abandoned consideration of our deepest talents altogether! Business is about money…for many people, life itself has become about money and survival. What about talent…passion…purpose…appreciation…SPIRIT?
We all have Divinely inspired passions, the exact combination of which are as unique to us as our fingerprint. When we are operating in that space, negotiating it for no one, we can’t help but GLOW. Our Spirit and our human side are ONE. United, they are overwhelmingly fulfilled and brilliant! What does this look like? You’ve seen those rare individuals who glow in purpose, joy, and an innate giving nature. I pray THAT IS YOU, but if not, rest assured in the knowledge that those people evidence your own possibilities.
Listen to those small voices that tell you your deepest Passions. Trust in their Divine Origin and ability to provide for you abundantly. Follow your deepest and most inspired Path. Soon you will be glowing and giving and LIVING.
The best motivator to find and stay on this course is to seek out those around you whose glow is profound. Keep company with these people, for now that they’ve found their Joy, they instinctively want to help you find yours. This is not an exclusive club, but rather a more-the-merrier attitude. Once we all choose to operate in the Divine Spirit of business and follow our true Path, we all win!
It has been my pleasure this week to visit briefly with Mario Rosales, Founder of Tech-Life Balance to discuss how we can choose the best way to communicate in different situations:
There were a couple of points we didn’t make in our conversation I’d like to add regarding how we can best take care of our relationships as we communicate. First, others appreciate when we notice and respect their feelings. Some people are more comfortable talking on the phone, while others prefer email or text. Some never text at all. It is very helpful to consider the other person’s feelings in choosing how you communicate so as to make them as comfortable as possible.
Second, other people do not owe us anything! We’ve often come to expect that others ‘should’ respond within some imaginary amount of time because we know they have a phone or ‘should’ be checking their email at work. How did we ever come to think this way? They are the master of their own Universe and we can never know all of their circumstances! Again, we are back to patience and respect. It really changes things if we instead assume that they will get back to us as soon as it is convenient for them to do so. Even if they are doing nothing, isn’t the need to relax and unplug just as real and important as the need to do anything else?
The more we are respectful, patient, and loving in our own approach and expectations, the richer our own lives and relationships will become. This always begins with our relationship to self. Let’s take the time to unplug and respect our own need to rest and rejuvenate. When we value this, we understand and value others need to do this also.
Think for a moment and identify the five most important relationships that make your life better – your own personal Top 5. Are they clearly pictured in your mind’s eye? Now remember your last time spent with each. How present were you? Do you recall exactly what was going on in their lives, hearts, and relationships? How had they changed from the last time you saw them? If this is difficult, maybe you were distracted texting, talking on the phone, playing games, or watching a show.
Technology is such a gift! It allows us to connect and communicate in ways unimaginable just two generations ago. Unfortunately, it becomes a curse for our relationships when we aren’t mindful to respect the time and love of those around us. One of the greatest ways we can show appreciation for those we love is to unplug and really BE WITH THEM. When we silence and put away our phones, turn off the TV, walk away from the computer, and focus on enjoying their presence, our relationships grow.
At home with our families, we watch movies, play games, and listen to music together or we text, call, email, or use social media alone. All of these are great, but presumably at least some people at home are in our Top 5. Shouldn’t we spend quality time with them?
Finally, there is our relationship with Self. Sadly this suffers the most as we are perpetually distracted. Refusing to turn off technology and resolve our own confusion, anger, or pain means we reject the important lessons that will lead to our own Highest Good. This in turn affects every other relationship we have – how could it not?
We can start by making an appointment with our self every day for some uninterrupted quiet time…and keeping that appointment! We can also make an effort, at least with our Top 5, to be fully present and focus on them, showing by our actions (or rather our stillness) just how much they mean to us.
Next week, we’ll tackle how to take better care of our personal and professional relationships by consciously choosing the best technology for each situation. Join me as I visit with Tech-Life Balance Founder Mario Rosales (we’ll video this one) to discuss the importance of knowing when to communicate by phone, email, text, or face-to-face.

Let’s use our imagination for a minute. Consider that an acorn exists that can reason and has emotions. It begins its life in the perfect conditions to grow tall and full and beautiful. How long would it stay in rich soil with plenty of sun and rain and space around it to grow? Would it move to avoid harsh weather, and later try to create its own perfect conditions, maybe working and living with other oaks? Would it evolve to need an exchange system for everyone to provide for themselves in this new community? Picture it: a bunch of oak trees living indoors creating perfect temperatures with artificial lights on timers, using what they want and discarding the rest, until they forget where they came from or their own potential.
I know this seems silly, but sometimes it’s easier to see ourselves from the outside. Like the young oak in our story, we come to believe that reality and possibility are limited to what we can see around us every day, or even what we see worldwide in our lifetime. Generations before us have built this community and lifestyle and we forget most of the time that we can really open ourselves to a universe of Possibility.
The skeptic in everyone… always the mind, never the Spirit…believes we are limited by the reality of our circumstance. However, this thinking can never do anything other than perpetuate more of the same! Thankfully there have been those throughout history who have awakened to recognize their…our own potential. They have acted to create their vision and altered the course for all who followed. Some of this was good, some of it was not. Either way, they were change agents creating a new reality. We all have this potential!
The word creativity, like what it describes, is rooted in the ability to “create”. We have only a brief time in this world to create what we visualize and reach our own potential. Wouldn’t it be a shame to waste a minute?
Embrace your dreams! Create new possibilities for yourself and others! When you doubt yourself, visualize our young oak tree sitting on a coach under a grow lamp playing video games…never growing tall and beautiful and being exactly what an oak tree can be. Silly? Sure! But isn’t there an unfulfilled acorn of possibility waiting inside of you right now?
